Karin Ottesen retired on 30 June 2014 after practising as a New South Wales barrister for over 20 years (from February 1994 to June 2014). Her areas of practice were:

She was a NSW Bar Association approved Expert Determiner and Arbitrator and has contributed articles and given seminars in a variety of legal areas. .She continues to be an author of Lexisnexis “Practical Guidance – Corporations Law” (Financial Services and Markets).

Qualifications and academic positions
Karin holds the following qualifications: BJuris LLB, Dip, Crim, BA, LLM (Hons II) and Grad Dip in Applied Finance and Investment.
Karin has held various casual and part-time academic positions over the years, teaching in a wide variety of legal areas including business law, international business law, corporate law, banking law and introductory law. She was also Principal Examiner in Legal Institutions, NSW Legal Practitioners Admission Board from 1995 to 2002.
Other work experience
Immediately prior to being admitted to the New South Wales Bar, Karin worked as a banking and finance solicitor with Mallesons Stephen Jacques (now King & Wood Mallesons), a major commercial law firm. While at Mallesons, Karin spent 10 months on secondment to the Australian Payments Clearing Association Limited as in-house legal counsel reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
